Prior to the start of the 2022-2023 school year, administrators at Las Cruces Public Schools want to know how parents and families communicate most frequently with the district.
A short, 10-question survey went home to families via email on Tuesday. According to LCPS, the intention of the survey was to learn more about which communication platforms or channels families find most helpful.
âLike students, parents are our audience,â said Kelly Jameson, Director of Communication. âWe spend considerable time throughout the school year sending home important notices and information, but we have not given them an opportunity to let us know how weâre doing, or what works.â
Jameson said surveys are a frequent method of measure in LCPS but hopes parents will still find the value in giving the district feedback and ideas on how to improve.
âFamilies are very gracious to give us their time to learn more about them, and what their preferences are,â she explained. âOur communication survey to parents is designed to do just that; give us a baseline for where parents look most frequently when they need information about the district, or their childâs school.â
Communication strategies at LCPS include traditional media in the Las Cruces and El Paso markets, social media (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram), the newly redesigned district website, www.lcps.net, and a smartphone app launched last year. The free app is available to both iPhone and Android users and features push notifications for time-sensitive updates to families.
âIn the event one of our schools experienced an emergency and we needed to communicate quickly with parents, the app is a new channel we would use first,â noted Jameson. âWe will likely always keep our email platform, but if something needs to be sent on an urgent basis to families, the app is the fastest way to do that.â
The 2022-2023 Communication Survey to LCPS Parents is open to all district families by clicking here. The survey will close on Aug. 31, 2022.
